Pennywise, is a fictional character and the main evil in IT, Stephen King’s 1986 horror novel. Pennywise is a primeval cosmic antagonist which invokes children from Derry, Maine, every 27 years. The character has unlimited abilities including control manipulating reality to go anonymous by adults. IT appears in Pennywise, a Dancing Clown form, within the stories. The first time IT got recognition was by “The Losers Club” on account of the witness of Georgie, Bill’s little brother Georgie.

Stephen King discovered the idea for Pennywise after seeking himself the answer for what thing that scared children the most. “more than anything else in the world”. His mind made the decision that should be clowns. King thought about the “Three Billy Goats Gruff” troll, who live in the sewer system.

In the 1990 TV adaptation, Tim Curry took over the portray of IT in its Pennywise form. Then by Lilliput in TV adaptation in 1998, in 2017 adaptation and its 2019 follow-up It Chapter Two by Bill Skarsgård.
