Polyphia is a predominantly progressive rock band formed in Dallas, Texas in 2010. The band was first known for its classical guitar performance on Youtube. Inspire and Muse, their first EP and LP indicates their style forward to Pop music. Nevertheless, their works later follow a more progressive metal style in their later release. This lead them to the Dject movement, inspite of their characteristic was more based on melody and far less heavy. Renaissance, their next LP, changing style from metal into more progressive rock with rock-mastery tones.

Polyphia also started to combine elements from different music styles for their music. The single LIT, a remix from Light is a mixed between EDM, Funk, and Hip-hop. Their style continued to develop in the second and third EP, The Most Hated and New Levels New Devils. This promoted the EDM and hip-hop producers Judge and Y2K.

Polyphia’s early achievement was the guitar performance of “Impassion”, from Inspire, which went viral on YouTube. The band continued to recruit new members and held a number of national tours, performing with progressive metalcore titles, for instance, Between the Buried and Me, Periphery, and August Burns Red.
